Quality on our projects
Quality on our projects

Every team member is responsible for a part of the development and my job is to ensure quality. If I guarantee quality at every single task, I will ensure quality at development and project itself. These are for me the most important steps in quality assurance and the ones I follow. ANALYSING When there are new tasks, I normally take time to look where each task will be involved in. These tasks could affect previous developments and I need to think of all possible scenarios to be able to discover edge cases. It’s like having a higher picture of the development. THINKING Looking at the previous analysis, it’s time to think about the scenarios. Scenarios are different from each other and all of them are important to guarantee the development quality. DESIGNING After analysing and thinking the scenarios, it’s time to think about test cases. There could be some test cases that I can re-use. Having a good and organised test case library is essential for time optimisation. Writing new cases is inevitable and they are the most important part of their own re-usability. They need to be written as less dependent as they can be (for a good re-usability) and as simple as possible, so that anyone can execute them. EXECUTING This is the part of the process that takes less thought, it’s a step-by-step execution. It’s all about discipline and taking the scenario as it is. Looking back into the process, all the analysis were already made and here, it’s only about execution. COMMUNICATING There is quality in every step of the development. Communicating with the team is also part of quality - identifying the scenarios where the requirements weren’t fulfilled and helping to troubleshoot problems with the development are also part of quality. These are my steps to ensure quality at the projects I’m involved in! :)

BySix, a different journey
BySix, a different journey

When I remember my journey as a Frontend Developer at Visual Nuts, I have to reinforce the importance given to the technology without ever forgetting the business component inherent in the project or product. Visual allowed me to know the entire development process in the implementation of an app, from the definition of the application's architecture to its release in production. Not only that but, everyone in the team is integrated in the decision making, engaged in whole product lifecycle. "This also demonstrates how this company trusts and gives confidence to its employees." At this moment I am integrated in the development of two products contained in a complex TMS (Transport Management Systems), one more focused on the data visualisation and analysis, that flows in this TMS application, and the other on the reconciliation of information and invoicing management, present in the same system. The first, although it seems simpler in terms of business logic it is data driven. At the same time it must be fast and precise, it also plays a very important role visually, allowing understanding of performance and processes using different types of representation. This was the moment where I faced the great challenge of making a map representation with a lot of data. Although I had already developed applications with maps in the past, this challenge was at another level. Because of the data variety I can say it was one of the greatest I've faced until now. The last will help companies, that nowadays rely on their resolution of inconsistencies in spreadsheets, to have a modern application that will make this process optimized and faster, providing all the guidelines for successful errorless operations. Invoice matching is one of the key features of this product. Although, what we do, it involves a deep analysis of the business, it's very important to combine it with a clear visual - including animations/delights, to create, in other words, a real "Silicon Valley App".

Insider's view
Insider's view

Being part of Visual Nuts’ team has given me enough tools to complete today’s task: sharing an inside view of the company, directly from my non-technological point of view. TO GET THIS OUT THE WAY: YES. WE’RE NUTS ABOUT TECHNOLOGY.THIS IS NOT ONLY PART OF OUR NAME, BUT OUR MOTTO. Every member of this company has a passion for technology. It’s the one biggest requirement we make sure everyone fulfills. Whether you are an engineer, a salesperson or a human resources team member, you’ll need to immerge in the tech world (and embrace it). SO… WHAT DO WE DO EXACTLY? We work in close proximity with our partners, with business value in mind, delivering bold technical solutions at the forefront of what’s possible. We have three different areas of expertise that come together in terms of experience and knowledge: the product accelerator, where we take an idea to the market, as quick as possible, with the best technologies and solution in place; nearshore in Lisbon, to upscale a customer's operations remotely with our highly trained professionals; and outsourcing services, for customers that don’t want to deal directly with some specific area of expertise. At Visual Nuts, we are set up to handle a customer's development process in a transparent and frictionless way. Our talent, effort and hard work are not only trusted by national partners, but globally valued as well. We have a transparent process common to all our partnerships, ranging from management, design and development, to testing and infrastructure. We have handpicked teams that prosper in the technical field and deliver the best solutions possible, personalized to each customer. You have the idea, we come up with the solution. OUR CULTURE HELPS US THRIVE Some of the great things that happen at Visual Nuts are after-work barbecues, sport matches and other monthly events, where we experience awesome team building time. We like to have fun, but we never forget our end goal: to learn. Our interesting way of getting professional trainings and certificates, sharing them between teams and learning together, allows us to extend our motivation inside the office. Although we had to postpone some of these activities this year, due to the Covid-19 situation, for others we found new ways... In the end, it's all about adjusting.
